We were instructed at the beginning of 2020 by the Trust to design an Ambulance Hub for their existing site in Bury St Edmunds. Having been involved with the Trust for many years, we already had a good understanding of their requirements, however the Trust wanted the Hub to be able to accommodate a new method of working and reporting for the front-line staff. Our design process took over a year to complete following numerous consultations with the different teams that will be occupying the Hub, including operational, make ready and fleet teams.
Our design was then used to tender the scheme to developers for them to build and lease back to the Trust. We were involved with the tender process and due to value engineering, the scheme was re-designed by the developers’ architects. We then advised the Trust on the build process, monitoring all works and ensuring the Hub met their specifications and requirements.
The Hub was completed in 2024 and is a flag ship building within the Trust’s property portfolio.
